Having a baby
Update: Read a few weeks ago that babies born today will likely have cost their parents $300,000 by the time they (hopefully) graduate high school. WOW! It's great to be childless, methinks. Well, at least until we need someone to care for us. :Sigh:
So, our coworker brings her adorable four-week-old daughter to the office today and casually tells us when we ask that even with insurance it costs her and hubby $1,200 to bring their first healthy baby into the world. Now, add the cost of diapers, food, clothes, toys, and future college (maybe!) Yikes! In today's dollars, it also costs $83,000 to earn an MBA at UT-Austin (tuition only.) I don't know how anyone can have a baby (or more) and get an advanced degree! Eeeeeep! Now, imagine trying this all on one income! Methinks we'll keep loving our kittycat as our only baby!
