Am getting ready to read The Denial of Death by Ernest Becker after hearing about it in passing (huh huh huh) from a coworker. This Pulitzer Prize winning book (in 1974 - two months after the author's own death) explores the "whys" of human existence through philosophy and the uncomfortable notion that all life might be dependent upon our own illusions and denials.
Also, saw this adorable moped helmet on the way home today! So, does this book mean we only *think* we see a ladybug? Dunno, yet, and will withhold judgment until the end. If you can post here, what are you reading now and why? By the way, I don't think the owls are allowing Comments on this leelou template so advance apologies but thanks for reading, anyway!
Along the Capital MetroRail, take a look at the piece of pink granite from Marble Falls that fell off the freight train during the State Capitol construction (c. 1885)! This is one piece among about five strewn along the rail line-->a fascinating chunk 'o history and look at how faded this has gotten after 130 years! I hope no one takes these for their yards but, sadly, they may not last in these resting places.
